In 1995, Marble Hill Trakehner
was founded by two German
veterinarians, Dr. Lutz and Dr. Susanne Harfst. The broodmare band was based on
three imported mares, the black Schwalbenherbst mare
Karline and her two black
daughters by Kostolany.

Soon the addition of Marble Hill Stables followed, a
commercial Thoroughbred breeding operation. The farm was able to acquire well
bred mares with good race records, among them two own daughters of racing legend
Nijinsky II. The offspring of these mares is sold at the yearlings market.

Francesca's Star
Our goal is to breed and raise horses that will excel in their
respective discipline, be it on the racetrack, in the dressage ring or the
jumping arena. We breed our mares to top stallions from both sides of the
Atlantic, our foals are raised in small groups to make sure they get all the
care and attention they need.

But the backbone of every farm are the
broodmares, so we'd
like to introduce our mares on the following
pages.

Elmarshausen stallions

Elmarshausen stallions Tambour, Kasimir,

or visit Elke Söchtig's Gut
Elmarshausen here.
We "only" breed Trakehners and Thoroughbreds, but
that doesn't mean we don't own and love other breeds as well. Our American
family's trusty Morgans have carried us and our pack on many a mountain trail,
our kids grow up caring for and riding their ponies. Click
here to read about the other horses on our farm.

And last but not least we'd like to introduce the dogs who have stolen our
hearts the moment Roberta von der Emsmuehle entered our lives in 1994. Roberta
and her sons and daughters by champion Maghill of Ben's Heir are Irish Terriers
just as Jack London describes them in his book "Jerry the Islander": a
dog of gold, inside and out.
